Explore the beginning sounds of each picture with the child. It is important to concentrate on letter sounds. Make some alphabet cards to show the child what the letter looks like. Caterpillar starts with C but it makes the sound “cuh”. When I say caterpillar what is the first sound that you hear? You may have to repeat a few times to ensure that the child hears the sound properly. Encourage the child to repeat the word so he/she can pay attention to the beginning sound.
